Experience

My experience in English teaching and freelance copy writing, proofreading, editing, and consulting in academic communication writing can be summed up as follows:

Proofreading/Editing

Freelance editor, Student Network Resources (2012); Freelance Editor, Access Medical (2012); Graduate assistant editor for Dr. Greg Scharf (conference papers), Trinity International University (2012); Other freelance editing for dozens of short term projects (2010-2012); Currently editing many institutional, compliance, and marketing documents for Ambria College of Nursing (present)

Copy-writing

Edited, provided copy writing, and proofread academic, marketing, and other content for readability, communicative impact, and conformity to style guides (APA, AMA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.) for dozens of clients (2004-present)

Professional consulting (tutoring) on academic writing/communication

Consulted with (tutoring) dozens of medical doctors, nursing doctoral students, theological masters/doctoral students and other clients to improve text coherence and to conform to style guides, such as APA, AMA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian styles for theses, dissertations, and term papers; many of the above clients utilized my services for tutoring in academic discourse/speech

Teaching College Composition

  • Adjunct professor, Department of English, Trinity International University (2012)
  • Planned, designed and instructed two first-year-level composition courses titled “English 111, Critical Thinking and Writing”;
    • Implemented lesson plans and assignments, assessed students, and reported grades to the Dean of Students;
    • Designed, assigned, and facilitated a major final research paper; collected and graded student writing portfolios
